Comedy of Errors
British American Drama Academy’s LTP Spring 2025 presents
On 28 December, 1594, Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors was likely performed at the Gray’s Inn, though with so much confusion, the event was subsequently called “The Night of Errors”. A contemporary account, called the Gesta Grayorum, describes the players as ‘a Company of base and common Fellows’ who had been ‘foisted’ on the distinguished gentlemen of Gray’s Inn.
The Comedy of Errors is a farce. It tells the story of two sets of twins who experience a great deal of mistaken identity, causing confusion among themselves and other people. Hapless Egeon has stepped foot on Ephesus and has been apprehended for doing so.
Our play is a trip of many kinds, to the Greek island of Ephesus, in Club Porpentine.
